An icon is a very powerful thing, something with mythical energy. And, in the motorcycle world there is one powerful American icon that stands head and shoulders above the rest, and that is the Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

If you've had a chance to ride a Harley Sportster or any of the more classic models of Harley's, you'll be confronted with the fact that there are other motorcycle brands with a better road feel, quicker performance, slicker engineering, and far more enhanced design, but that doesn't seem to bother Harley lovers, and there are millions of them.

Harley Davidson Motorcycle fans are in love with the brand, the image, and the sound. Yes, the sound. Check out any Harley motorcycles blog and somewhere you're bound to find someone talking about the sweet rumble of their Harley. As well, there is a certain bad boy or bad girl image attached to Harley Davidson Motorcycle ownership, and most people have a bit of a hidden rebel they wish to let out every once in a while--this is also a consumer draw. The fact that the Harley Davidson Motorcycle has engrained itself into movie folklore helps with sales as well. Other motorcycle brands have not entrenched themselves in any like manner.

It appears that there is no more identifiable American motorcycle icon than the Harley Davidson Motorcycle.
