The 1965 Harley Davidson M-50 Sport is definitely an unusual Harley Davidson motorcycle. Actually the M-50 Sport is a moped produced Harley Davidson and Italian motorcycle company Aermacchi. The bike never caught on in America due to America's expanse of wide open spaces and culture of long-distance motorcycle touring. The M-50 sold well in Europe. This was basically a joint venture for the Harley Davidson motorcycle company to test the waters for moped demand in America. The advertising copy stated that these bikes were "fun for young America at any age," but the reality was that America was not impressed so only a few of the bikes were sold.

Fans of the Harley Davidson motorcycle should try to find one of these rare bikes to buy as a novelty piece of Harley Davidson history and also as a great conversation piece. The M-50 Sport came with a 49cc two-stroke motor and 3 speed gearbox. Selling price was $225 and in 1966 over 10,500 units were built but only a few were sent to America. The M-50 is certainly a rare Harley Davidson motorcycle and a great collectors bike.
