Faltering Economy Causes Harley Davidson Motorcycle to Cut Production |

As the ripples from the coming economic recession continue to spread through the US economy, even established companies like the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Company are feeling the pinch. Because sales are down for the Harley Davidson motorcycle, the company has announced that it is cutting production this year and will be cutting more than 700 jobs from its rolls. 2008 may turn out to be a bleak year for the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Company, with overall profits dropping as much as 20% for the year. This is bad news for the people who are on the Harley Motorcycles blog or want Harley Davidson parts accessories. Lower production from the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Company will ultimately translate into higher prices for anyone who rides a Harley Sportster or one of the other fine Harley bikes. According to an article from the Witchita Business Journal, "Harley plans to ship 23,000 to 27,000 fewer motorcycles in 2008 than in 2007, resulting in total planned 2008 shipments of between 303,500 and 307,500 units." What that will mean to the average Harley rider is higher prices from the dealer and no incentives or give-backs when you buy a new Harley bike. |
